Florida Governor Orders Random Drug Tests For State Workers

Submitted on Mar 25, 2011

Governor Rick Scott of Florida signed an executive order requiring all prospective state employees to submit to a drug test, in addition the executive order mandates that all current state employees undergo random drug testing. This order faces protest from the ACLU which states, "The state of Florida cannot force people to surrender their constitutional rights in order to work for the state. Absent any evidence of illegal drug use, or assigned a safety-sensitive job, people have a right to be left alone."
