A joint investigation led for years by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) came to fruition on Thursday, September 29, 2011 as dozens of Boeing employees were arrested during a drug raid. It was uncovered during the long-term investigation of the Ridley Park, Pennsylvania Boeing Plant that employees were illegally selling or buying prescription drugs. "23 suspects have already been indicted on illegally distributing prescription drugs for selling controlled substances to an FBI cooperator. Fourteen defendants are being charged with a misdemeanor for purchasing a controlled substance from an FBI cooperator. The controlled substance was in fact a placebo." The drugs being sold and purchased included fentanyl, oxycodone, alprazolam and buprenorphine.
