Bloomsberg Businessweek recently released an article discussing the rising popularity in synthetic drugs, which produce similar highs to illegal drugs, but using legal substances. The effects of ingesting the synthetic drugs mimics street drugs like marijuana, cocaine and LSD. Although the manufacturers insist that the products they release under the guises of being "incense, bath salts" or in some instances even "toilet bowl cleaner" are not for human consumption, hospitalization rates due to ingestion of these products are on the rise. Many people are using these synthetic drugs simply because they do not show up on standard drug tests.
